R/V Dawn
Welcome Aboard R/V Dawn
The Research Vessel (R/V) Dawn is owned and operated by the Sustainable Seas Institute (SSI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to explore the world's oceans to seek out new discoveries in oceanography, biology, chemistry and climate adaptation.
WHAT WE DO
Seagoing operations are dedicated to conducting all scientific research to the highest international academic standards as we push the boundaries of ocean engineering, technology, education, and communication.
Ocean Research
Aboard the R/V Dawn, our exploratory missions leverage the latest scientific instruments and systems to advance mapping technologies, conduct detailed site characterization, and perform real-time data analysis. All our efforts are dedicated to understanding and exploring the world's oceans and are shared live to spread the excitement of ocean discovery and engage a global audience.
These expeditions are meticulously planned in conjunction with federal agencies, marine sanctuaries, and leading research institutions whose missions align with our own. This collaborative approach drives a new generation of exploration technology, innovation, and outreach capabilities, ensuring our research has the broadest possible impact.
